Māori liaison

The Māori liaison team focus on liaising with the Māori community around the country to raise awareness and inform them on how to access official statistics through our website.

The team is also responsible for promoting the value of participating in all the surveys conducted by Statistics NZ. The team pursue these outcomes through liaising and organising workshops and presentations among key stakeholders in the community such as:

  • central and local agencies
  • Iwi and hapu
  • businesses
  • educational institutes
  • service providers
  • communities

The team also attends or runs events such as:

  • promotional stalls
  • sponsorships of key local Māori events
  • small competitions

The Outreach team helps us deliver some of our web-based presentations.

We encourage the Māori community to give us their feedback. The more we know how Statistics NZ data and products are being used, the more we can refine these to meet the needs of all audiences.

If your community group, or organisation could benefit from a presentation from our team or connect you with the right people within Statistics NZ, then call any one of our Māori Relationship Advisors  (Kaiwhakataki Māori ) to discuss.
