These releases provide an annual snapshot of the structure and characteristics of New Zealand businesses.

The latest releases contain tables on:

• enterprises, geographic units, and employee count (EC), by industry and employment size group.

Until 2003, statistics used full-time equivalent (FTE) persons engaged as business size measure. From 2003 onwards, FTE was replaced by employee count (EC). Business demography statistics showing EC are available for the year 2000 onwards.
